DE-1006 Dealy class

Dealy class FF

(United States)

Notes: These thirteen vessels represent the end of the Destroyer-Escort family tree that started after WWI and was replaced by the modern USN cold war frigates. Because of gaps in the numbering of USN ships of the time, the last ten are sometimes incorrectly referred to as the Courtney class. Their general concept was outdated and all were used in second-rate roles during their careers.

The ships were USS Dealy, USS Cromwell, USS Hammeburg, USS Courtney, USS Lester, USS Evans, USS Bridget, USS Bauer, USS Hooper, USS John Wells, USS Van Voorhs, USS Hartley, and USS J.K. Taussig. The first commissioned in the early 1950s, the last was gone by 1972. New Zealand showed interest in the retiring USN vessels but in the end never bought. Except for the two below, all were scrapped.
