Kamov Ka-29 & Ka-31

The Ka-29 (NATO name 'Helix-B') was developed by Kamov as an assault transport helicopter capable of providing fire support for amphibious landings. The aircraft is based on the Ka-27 but features a widened fuselage with a new nose profile, a fixed 7.62mm multi barrel gun and stub wings for carrying rocket pods and anti armour missiles. Sensors include a small radar and and EO system believed to be a TV/FLIR unit. The Ka-31 was originally designated Ka-29RLD. This aircraft is a radar picket design to provide a measure of AEW capacity. A large rotating E-810E Oko radar is carried beneath the fuselage. The antenna folds falt against the fuselage bottom for landing.
