Notes: These joint sonar systems equipped the Narval, Daphne, and Gymnote class submarines. DUUA-2A was the active system with a range of 4NM. DSUV-2 was the passive system with a 36-hydrophone bow array, with a range of 9NM. The DSUV-2’s display was originally a paper scroll which was marked with a thermal pen, this was obviously a cumbersome set-up and also left an unpleasant smell. Later a CRT was developed.
