Notes: The most elaborate of the Soviet intelligence ships, these vessels shadowed USN carrier groups and operated offshore of “points of interest”. Built in Poland, they have NBC-sealed hulls, partial air conditioning, and hulls strengthened for light icebreaking. Since 1991 only the Baltic and Black Sea units are active with any regularity, and even they no longer prowl the world, mostly limiting themselves to specific, brief missions.
Their appearances vary widely, and radomes, antennas, etc are added and removed as required. Some ships also have two quad 75mm tubes, apparently for some kind of rocket not seen on any other vessels.
