SSC-1A/B "Shaddock" coastal defense missile
(USSR)
After a fire destroyed the plans and prototypes of the P-35 coastal defense missile project in 1959, the USSR quickly adapted the SS-N-3 "Shaddock" cruise missile for land use. A single missile was carried on an eight-wheeled TEL (transporter/erector/launcher), it took some time to prepare it for firing. The Soviet army also used a version (SSC-1A) for surface-to-surface use. The "Shaddock" was cumbersome as a coastal defense weapon and the missile itself was very prone to jamming, and easy to shoot down. All characteristics are the same as the ship and submarine-launched SS-N-3 versions. The SSC-1 was retired in the 1980s.
