SSN 585 Skipjack class
Displacement: Surfaced 3,070 t; Submerged 3,513 t; Dimensions: Length 77 m; Beam 10 m; Draft 9 m; Armament: 6 x (533mm) torpedo tubes, 18 torpedo capacity. Propulsion: One nuclear reactor, two steam turbines, one shaft. Surfaced 15 kts; Submerged 29 kts. Description: The Skipjack class was the first “top to bottom” new attack submarine design using nuclear propulsion. The Skipjack was also the first submarine class to combine nuclear power with the new “tear drop” hull design.
