Volga (“Don Kay”) radar
(USSR)
Notes: This I-band navigation radar superseded the Don and Don-2 sets. The nomenclature is somewhat confusing as those radars were known by their proper Soviet names, while Volga was assigned the NATO reporting name “Don Kay” apparently for commonality. “Don Kay” has a ½-microsecond pulse and a maximum instrumented range of 30NM, with 25-27NM being typical vs. large contacts. It was replaced in production by the “Palm Frond” radar.
