DSUV-22 sonar

DSUV-22 sonar

(France)

Notes: This sonar uses a 64-stave passive cylindrical array backed up by a single active transducer (derived from the DUUA-2D). It is carried on the Agosta class submarines, and also on some modernized Daphne class submarines of the French and Spanish navies. (the Daphne arrays have only 32 staves). The system is fairly advanced and uses digital processors to electronically form 128 scanning “beams”. It can track 48 targets and perform target motion analysis on 8 of them. The single DUUA-2D hydrophone has a backup analog mode which allows for at least a minimal capability if all other DSUV-22 functions are lost.
