Notes: This sonar system is carried only aboard “Pauk” class ships. Until the end of the cold war, it had incorrectly been assumed that these vessels carried the “Rat Tail” system. In fact, the “Spider Tail” consists of a towed VDS body and a single active/passive hull transducer acting together. The use of a “metal” codename suggests that the entire system also contains an integrated FC computer linked to the torpedo tubes and RBUs.

Since Bulgaria joined NATO, the system can be viewed as wholly-compromised.
