Type 22U class LCU
(Yugoslavia)
Notes: This class of three was the final Yugoslav LCU design built by the Greben shipyard in Vela Luka during 1986-1987. It is constructed largely of fiberglass and pressed polyester making it lightweight, fast, yet quite strong. When unloaded it can navigate 45” of water.
One was captured intact by Croatia and continues to serve that navy.
The other two were retained by the now-landlocked Serbian navy after the final dissolution of Yugoslavia and were relocated to Belgrade. In the early 2000s they were completely overhauled by the Brodotehnika shipyard, receiving a thorough hull refurbishment and additional bulletproofing and armament. In 2007 the Serbian navy was absorbed into the army and the overall number of vessels greatly reduced, however these two units are certain to remain in use for many more years.
