Notes: These elaborate assault ships have a 250’x45’ docking bay aft and a large tank deck forward leading to bow doors. There is a helipad aft and the forward deck is also strengthened to land helicopters. There is also an UNREP station on either side of the superstructure for resupply of escort ships. The rocket launchers are rapid-firing; new rounds are loaded in a palletized manner. Advanced navigation systems (including GLONASS and “Round House” TACAN) are fitted. This class is very expensive to operate and the final unit rarely goes to sea.
